Seattle Seahawks (Round Drafted. Name - Position) 1. Lawrence Jackson - DE 2. John Carlson - TE 4. Red Bryant - DT 5. Owen Schmitt - FB 6. Tyler Schmitt - LS 7. Justin Forsett - RB 7. Brandon Coutu - K First Impressions - Defensive line was an apparent priority for the Seahawks, as Mike Holmgren and Co. used two of the franchise's first three picks to bolster the line. Lawrence Jackson was a solid defensive player at USC and was very productive. He could translate to a very intriguing pass rusher for the 'Hawks. Meanwhile, Red Bryant is a run-stuffer in every sense of the word. He's not athletic enough to effectively pressure the passer, but he has tremendous size and could end up a solid interior lineman in run situations. Offensively, it wasn't surprising the Seahawks snagged a tight end early. The team played without anyone of real note in 2007, and since Mike Holmgren is one of the best in the NFL at utilizing his tight ends, John Carlson has tremendous potential. He has good size and athleticism, plus he's a hard-working player who will win the respect of his teammates and coaches early on. Great pick. One thing that bothers me a little is how late the team waited to draft a running back to replace Shaun Alexander. Obviously, the coaching staff has faith in Julius Jones and T.J. Duckett because Forsett has a limited upside and might note even make the roster as a running back. All things considered, this was a fair draft for the Seahawks. I love John Carlson in this offense and the defensive line got some help. Fantasy Impact - Julius Jones' stock went up. He'll split situational carries with T.J. Duckett, but he is ultimately the starting running back in this offense, at least on first and second downs. More directly, the passing game got some help in the form of tight end John Carlson who very well could enter the season as the team's starter. If so, he looks like the type of player who can snag between 30-40 catches his rookie season. Set as favorite Bookmark Email This Hits: 106 Comments
