2008 NFL Draft Team Needs: Miami Dolphins

Offensive tackle — The Dolphins struggled to protect the quarterback last season (and open lanes for Ronnie Brown), and the best way to improve their odds of winning in 2008 begins with overhauling the offensive line. That starts at tackle (especially left tackle, the anchor of the line), where the team hasn’t had a franchise player in years (perhaps as long as they’ve searched for another franchise quarterback).

Cornerback — Will Allen is okay, but the Dolphins still have significant needs at the position. Expect them to use the draft to fill the void.

Linebacker — No Zach Thomas means the Dolphins will need to find someone in the draft. He missed part of last season with recurring migraines and other nagging injuries, but he’ll still be missed in terms of being a leader. Whether the draft can fill that remains a question, but the Dolphins should still address the need.

Number to Know - 3 - The number of quarterbacks with at least 100 pass attempts last season. Injuries and avoiding to start John Beck ensured that no one quarterback ultimately established himself as a clear-cut starter.
